Bob Mahony
Bob Mahony has been the Director of the Block C Club since June 2014. He has been with IPTAYsince February 1989. He has served as the Associate Director of IPTAY and a Major Gift Officer for Athletics during his tenure with IPTAY.His responsibilities have included working with the annual fund, coordinating the IPTAY Representative program, the discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of IPTAY donors at all levels and being a member of the university development staff where he has been involved in university fundraising efforts for the WILLTO LEAD campaign, primarily focused on the priorities for the athletic department’s new and renovated facilities for baseball, basketball, football, golf, tennis, and soccer.
As the Director of the Block C Club, he is responsible for growing its membership with student athletic alumni along with athletic trainers, managers, cheerleaders, rally cats, and mascots. He is responsible for the selection of the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame and coordinates its annual induction ceremony. He helps coordinate Block C reunions in all sports and is responsible for the selection of Honorary Captains for home football games. Mahony has worked to expand the Block C database and develop four key areas of the membership –fellowship, recognition, outreach, and education.
Mahony is a former Clemson baseball player who served as a co-captain of Clemson’s 1976 team that won the ACC regular-season championship, the ACC Tournament and advanced to the 1976 College World Series. He has provided the radio color commentary for Clemson baseball since 1989.
Mahony is active in the Adult Chapter of FCA. He is a member of Tiger Brotherhood, the Rotary Club of Clemson, the Clemson Fellowship Club, and active in Clemson Presbyterian Church.
In the Spring of 2000, Mahony was honored when Bill and Elaine Howiler endowed the pitching position in baseball in his name.
Bob and his wife Robin, a 1976 Clemson graduate, have two married daughters: Allison Iori, a 2004 Clemson graduate, and Marion Corontzes. Mahony’s family has blood that runs orange. His two brothers, father, father-in-law, two sons-in-law, a sister-in-law, and two nephews hold Clemson degrees. His mother was Tiger Brotherhood Mother-of-the-Year in 1981, the year Clemson won the first of three National Championships in football.
