Welcome to IPTAY
Supporting the success of Clemson’s student-athletes in the classroom and on the field since 1934.
Founded in 1934, the letters in IPTAY stood as an acronym for “I pay ten a year,” encouraging Clemson alumni and the surrounding community to pledge just ten dollars per year in support of the athletic department. Now over 90 years later, IPTAY has grown into one of the most influential and successful collegiate athletics fundraising organizations in the country. While the capacity of IPTAY’s support has expanded through the decades, the organization has always stayed true to their core missions – serving the best interest of the Clemson student-athlete, and offering the nation’s premier student-athlete experience.
Today, IPTAY donors provide millions of dollars in scholarships each year for Clemson student-athletes. Their support also equips Clemson Athletics with the resources and facilities necessary to sustain championship excellence in this ultra-competitive evolving era of collegiate athletics.
IPTAY is supported by annual donations through the IPTAY Annual Fund, major gifts, planned giving, and more, each of which is vital to the success of Clemson student-athletes and their programs.
IPTAY Supports:
IPTAY provides funding for three main areas to support Clemson student-athletes…
1. Student-Athlete Scholarships
Each academic year, IPTAY has the responsibility of funding all student-athlete scholarships. IPTAY also provides the largest academic endowment (nearly $10 million) on campus to the general student body.
2. Academic Support – Nieri Family Student-Athlete Enrichment Center
The Nieri Family Student-Athlete Enrichment Center provides resources such as tutoring and mentors for all of our nearly 500 student-athletes so that they may succeed in the classroom.
Clemson University student-athletes smashed the all-time department record with a 3.09 GPA in the Fall 2019 semester. A school-best 11 sports reached a 3.0 or better mark, including the men’s tennis (3.31) and volleyball (3.53), which set program records.
The 3.09 overall mark topped the previous record of 3.02 set in the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters. Additionally, 295, or 60.2 percent, student-athletes earned a 3.0 or better in the fall, with 58 recording 4.0 GPAs.
3. Facilities
In order to place our coaches and student-athletes in the best position to succeed it is important that we are able to provide them with both new and upgraded facilities. This enables our coaches to recruit and train the best and brightest young men and women at the highest level.
